Title: Limerence II (The Obsession Series) Author: Claire C Riley Published: October 8, 2014 Genre: Horror My Thoughts Because Limerence II begins about a year after Mia's transformation, we don't see how she handled losing Oliver and how she adjusts to her new life as a vampire, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I sort of wanted to feel her grief spill over from the end of Limerence - not because I'm sadistic, but because I was heart-broken and wanted to grieve with her. As a member of the Queen's army of vampires, Mia trains with Evan, who she is strongly attracted to. And though she isn't human any longer, she still has human emotions, and enjoys her playful interactions with handsome Evan. But because they are forbidden to become lovers, a battle of within each of them exists that eventually is too much to bear. All the while, Mia battles her inner darkness that is Maya. Because everything vamps experience is more intensified, their sexual experiences are out of this world, and it felt like I was reading erotica, which, honestly, distracted me, because when I was reading at home or in public, I kept looking up to make sure no one was looking over my shoulder, interested in what I was reading. I'm not a Fifty Shades kind of girl, just the blood and guts and gore kind. I enjoyed learning about the Queen and of course, Mr. San from the first novel in the series. Claire's unique take on the Queen and her strength was fantastic! I was disappointed when I was suddenly on the last page, and it didn't wrap up the way I had hoped from the beginning, but I suppose this means there will be a third book to look forward to. Limerence II was certainly as intense as the first, with lots of blood (and more sex), and if you like vampires and the bloodlust that goes along with it, you will love this novel. But, make sure you read Limerence first, or you won't have Mia's back story and how she came to be. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Rating: 4/5 About the Author
