Title: Bad Apples: Five Slices of Halloween Horror Authors: Edward Lorn, Jason Parent, Evans Light, Adam Light, Gregor Xane Published: September 14, 2014 Genre: Horror My Thoughts What a creepy, imaginative collection of stories - and just in time for Halloween. In The Riggle Twins, two children emerge from their treehouse hideaway in the cemetery to visit town each Halloween. They locate two adults who hide in the dark ignoring trick-or-treaters to find their secret candy stash. After reading this tale, I will never in my life ignore trick-or-treaters for fear of the Riggle twins paying me a visit. Pumpkinhead Ted is a tale of revenge, but it doesn't have a typical ending. With revenge and murder, this tale will ensure you never look at a Jack-O-Lantern the same way ever again. And I can safely say I will never look at fireflies the same way again either. Ghost Light Road took a typical ghost story and flipped it inside out and upside down with a gruesome twist that I thoroughly enjoyed. Easy Pickings is the kind of story that will force you to leave the lights on at night and know something is there with you in dark - whether you can see it or not. The next time a waitress sets a drink down in front of me with a straw, I just may cower from the straw. The Scare Rows is a twisted spin on the haunted houses and corn mazes that pop up in October. I can honestly say I will never view corn on the cob the same way again. That is, if I even remember what happened in the corn stalks. Bad Apples is good old-fashioned horror entertainment and a nightmare-inducing Halloween read. I won a copy of Bad Apples via First Reads.
