Title: And After (Until the End of the World Book 2)
Author: Sarah Lyons Fleming Published: May 15, 2014 Genre: Horror, Post-Apocalyptic My Thoughts
And After is as good as--or better than--the first book in the series. It picks up where Book 1 ends, with Cassie's new family safe at Kingdom Come Farm and getting into a routine that includes guard duty, scavenging runs, farming, and visiting the lookout point to keep an eye on what may be headed their way, with plans to go to Alaska, should their safe haven become unsafe.
With everyone settling in and routines established in a zombie apocalypse, I was uneasy. There are no fairy tale endings in this world. I won't spoil it for you, but be prepared to have your heart broken. With a host of characters, it was sometimes difficult to keep them all straight, but the lead characters are well developed. I like that the survivors communicate with other safe zones. It makes it feel less like the end of the world, less bleak. But as they lose communication with other safe zones, they solidify their plans for a quick escape to Alaska, where they hope the zombies will be frozen in their tracks. I love this series so much! It has heart and hope, even at its lowest and darkest times, because this unconventional family will always have each other's backs. Rating: 5/5 About the Author
