Title: Playing with Magic (The Midnight Witches Book 1)
Author: Carrie L. Wells Published: October 14, 2015 Genre: Supernatural My Thoughts
There is so much to love about this crafty novella. Liza, our protagonist is so unique that I feel she must be a real person somewhere, not just a figment of Carrie's imagination. Her friend, Felix, is just as unique and real. I'm totally in love with him. Doesn't matter that he's gay. Then, there's Fathom, the hunky dude who is suddenly paying attention to Liza.
There is a uniqueness about this novella that makes me giddy to share it with readers. There are witches, of course, keepers (they watch over and protect their witches), a familiar, a grimoire, a magical video game, and oodles of magic! I adore how Carrie carefully crafted the witch/keeper relationship, and how this relationship affected the Puritan witch trials. I felt good reading this book, like there is magic surrounding me, but being the un-magical person that I am, I cannot fully grasp it, yet I feel it nudging me. I cannot wait until Book 2 of The Midnight Witches series is released! About the Author
