Day One is the second installment in the bestselling Zero Trilogy, a companion adventure story to The Collapse Series. Title: Day One (Zero Trilogy, #2) Author: Summer Lane Published: March 20, 2015 Genres: Dystopia, Young Adult Purchase Links Q & A with Summer Lane What is your favorite part of writing The Zero Trilogy? I get to write about characters that are outside of the militias and military. The Collapse Series follows Cassidy Hart’s rise through the rankings of the resistance movement against a foreign invasion, and Elle’s journey is considerably different. Elle is not a soldier. She is a teenager living in the apocalypse. She is a fighter and a survivor, but she is alone. Also, her companions are teenagers, too – average, everyday kids. I liked showing that component. Not everybody can be in the militia, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fighters. How many books will you have in The Collapse Series? Right now, I am planning 10 Collapse Series books. I am also planning an entirely new dystopian series that should release late 2016. The thing that I love about all of my novels is that they all tie together somehow. Different characters, different stories – but they can all be traced back to Collapse if you pay attention. Especially the new dystopian story that I’m writing! What is your current Work in Progress? My current WIP is State of Vengeance, the sixth installment in The Collapse Series. It releases June 26th, 2015 – I’m really excited about this one. Of course, I say that about all of my novels, but it’s true! Each book brings in a new element that I haven’t used before, and that makes each new novel an adventure to me! If you could choose any actress to play Elle, who would it be? That is a tough question. I have to say that I can see Chloe Grace Moretz pulling off the role – tough city girl meets apocalypse. I think she could do it very well. She’s an amazing actress. What’s your favorite post-apocalyptic movie or TV show of the moment? My favorite post-apocalyptic television show is The Walking Dead – the scripts are great and the acting is fantastic. Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman are incredibly talented storytellers. My favorite movies are the Resident Evil films – I know they’re not brand new, but I’ve only just discovered them, and they’re pretty awesome. I love a tough female heroine who can hold her own!
